The elementary science olympiad tournament is a competition for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. There are 4 events offered this year. Students can choose to participate in as many events as they’d like. In this STEM competition, events will be scored and awards given to the top 6 competitors in each event.
This year's events include: Mindbenders, Nature Quest, Chopper Challenge and Paper Rockets
Students may choose to practice prior to the competition but it is not required. The goal is to have fun and learn more about science!
This is an excellent opportunity for students who love science and competition.
This workshop is for kids that want some more information or help with the events. If you were unable to attend the open house, this is a great opportunity to give things a try. If you have been building rockets or choppers, come test them. You may come as late as you need to and leave as early as you want.
The 8th annual Grand Haven Elementary Science Olympiad Tournament will take place on Saturday the 2nd of November at White Pines Intermediate School.
Students entering the tournament will have an opportunity to win a top six award in each event entered in either the Elementary (3rd/4th grade) or Intermediate (5th grade) divisions. Our goal is to have all the rules easy to follow and available through our website. This year we intend to have every event something that can either be built the day of the event or have enough info to make it possible to practice on your own ahead of the tournament.
To register for the 4 event tournament use this link to the registration form. For those paying with cash or check a fee of $30 payable to GHAPS before the tournament date. Payment can be sent to Lakeshore Middle School 900 S. Cutler Grand Haven attn: Melissa Jaeger. You may register the day of the event for $35.
We look forward to another exciting tournament with lots of smart, fun kids participating!
